Hey Everyone I know I have been myspace-ing more than here but I ran across this video online .. of the HBO promo for our show.. a small behind the scenes... I always try to answer the question what the show is about... here is a little something that Might help.
Hey guys. Some of you may know that I have had the privilage of working with David Milch on his new show John From Cincinnatti. This experience has been a whirlwind... but also very rewarding and insanly exciting.
Just so you have a glimpse of what a blessing working with him has been to me I just wanted to post some cool quotes I found on the internet from him along with a trailer that a documentry guys created for NYPD BLUE (when his was working on that)
So here is just a little bit. _________________________________________________________
About John From Cinncinatti "We've begun to evolve inorganically as a species, through our technology, and, especially, our media. We'll hit an evolutionary dead end if the media model is wholly economic rather than spiritual. We won't be able to control our technology and will wind up killing ourselves.I'm doing a new show that has to do with all that. It's about surfers and interplanetary visitation. The challenge is to let the spirituality be the effect, rather than the premise."
HIS PASSION BEHIND WRITING "'All I want to understand is the mind of God.' Now, I don't want to understand it; I want to testify to it. I believe that we are all literally part of the mind of God and that our sense of ourselves as separate is an illusion. And therefore when we communicate with each other as a function of an exchange of energy we understand not because of the inherent content of the words but because of how that energy flows."
JUST AN ANSWER THAT I LIKED OF HIS Who, I asked, was his favorite character in literature? The answer was Falstaff.
"Falstaff illustrated the purest form of the idea of expression as joy," he said. "Take Mr. Warren's formulation that 'this is the way that the pain of the past in its pastness is converted to the future tense of joy.' Falstaff was a character who had done everything. And whose capacity for language, the exuberance of whose expression was such that every experience, in the method of its expression, ultimately had a joyful effect. For me that was and continues to be- You know, people say that my writing is dark. And for me it's quite the opposite. It sees light in darkness and it doesn't try to distort darkness. The essential thing is that the seeing itself is joyful." ___________________________________________
So there were small snippits of stuff that I gathered from online. Here is a visual small glimpse of how the nypd set ran, wich isn't far off from ours...Without a net
